Its hard to tell whats conected to whaton this pic, but on your board double check those diodes polarity and transistor conections. I check every lead and make sure it goes where it needs to before I print my circuit. Then check again after etching/before soldering. Its super easy to over look...

Very true. That would make the board with super tight clearances easy to bridge over when soldering. Definitely not home made, but when size matter well worth it to have them make it.

Yes, it doesnt look right the way it flashes right now, but onece installed in model where red and blue is roof light and white are head and tail lights it will look tight. I dont know who makes them leds but I can give you specs on them if you want.

Mission accomplished with grate success. High five... Yes it is very cramped and soldering was major pain in the anus since some of those tolerances are so tight. My $10 soldering iron wasn't much help aether. It needs new schematics since I run those LEDs in parallel and also IC socket for...

Just a small update , I got two different variants today both smaller then original :) Smaller is the same and uses resistor per LED meaning u can use one or 4 LEDs per chanel total of eight LEDs. The smallest is set to run 2 LEDs per resistor so you have choice to run the board with 2 or 4 LEDs...

Got it all put together last night and find lil problem there when I went to solder the return wire on the counter. Got it fixed and she works like a charm. Its definitely still on the big side so I'll try to shrink it and maybe connect more of them together. Since I have to do it again I can...

Prep the board by rubbing off unwanted elements with acetone and very fine steal wool laser printed circuit ironed on the pcb board ( kind of like iron on shirts patches) then soak under water and peal the paper off leaving toner on the board Mixing 2 of hydrogen peroxide with 1 of hydrochloric...

Got pretty good etch today, now ready for testing. I'll make video if it works and get the PDF out for anyone interested making their own.

Between work and my kid I don't have much time to play with it as much as I would like, but today I finally got laser printer and was going to etch two boards for testing. Unfortunately the paper I'm using is not the best for toner transfer process and it turned into disaster. I'll get better...

Its Program called Fritzing and its a freeware. Very simple to learn and for small projects or beginner such us my self it does the job well. But there is definitely way better programs out there.

Yes... Size became issue as soon as I start laying out pcb with both counters. So after couple of unsuccessful shrinking attempts I decided to make modifiable board that can be sandwiched on the top of another one, thus giving me two (or more) circuits connected into each other. Work still in...

OK so I think I'm done messing around with this project. After countless testing and changing components I finally got what I wanted. Using one 555 timer to run two cd4017 in order to get two different strobe effects. Blue and red for roof light and warm white for head lights and tail lights...

LOL the project is to fit this into Diecast Model like this one. Currently I'm working on PCB layout and when done and it works well I'll get the PDF on here for anyone that wish to make their own home made PCB board.

Yes Fleck, "Police Lights-2" Worked on first try with your modification of grounding. Plugged it into 12volt DC power adapter and had to add 0.1uF cap across supply like you recommended. Finished the speed of strobe to my liking with 3.3uF cap instead 2.2uF and added 2.4K resistor to 22K on the...

Thanx Fleck, So you used "Police Light-2" schematics , grounded 6,9,11, and add 100nF ( ceramic) cap across supply? I'll try this tomorrow let you know how it went.

Hello guys, I have not have any luck getting this thing to work. After completing my circuit fallowing the video tutorial nothing happens and 4017 start to over heat almost instantly. After numerous checking for errors I could not find any. After checking with circuit diagram on the web I find...
