I built the 555 Timer Circuits web site because it's a great starting point for many electronic hobbyists. The circuits are fun, inexpensive and easy to build.

Unfortunately, as the site grows in popularity, so do the questions in my mailbox. I've started to get a backlog and therefore it was time to start this forum. I hope that we can all collaborate with one another and help each other out. I will be answering as many questions as possible and as time goes on we will build up a large knowledge base of questions and answers for any future visitors.

Hello, I recently built the 555 Time circuit (here: http://www.555-timer-circuits.com/pin-configuration.html) and I've double, triple and quadruple checked my wiring on the breadboard. But for some reason my LED lights up once and then stops (it doesn't keep on flashing). I'm using potentiometers instead of fixed value resistors and a NE555N IC. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi,

I've just joined and want to ask for advice regarding the Police Siren Circuit. My knowledge is limited as I have just taken up the hobby of building electronic 'gadgets'. With reference to the police siren, I constructed it on a breadboard and the result has only been partially successful. When power is applied only one of the two tones is produced. I have found that by almost removing the resistor linking terminal three on the first 555 to the second 555 terminal 5 and wiggling it about both tones can be produced but only when the resistor is moved backwards and forwards. This tells me that the basic circuit is OK but I can't figure out why it does not work without the movemement of the resistor. The bread board is not brand new but the resistor seems to be held quite tightly. has anyone else had this sort of problem with this circuit? Thanks for any suggestions and advice. The website is just what a novice needs to get started in electronics with an abundance of projects using the ubiquitous 555 ic.

I am a keen modelmaker, and several of the projects here will be very useful!

Talking Electronics is fragmented and hard to follow for a beginner, the information is detailed in some places but not others. I've enhanced and modified many of the circuits, I've added text, better images, parts lists and videos. Feel free to continue to use the site however, please don't accuse me of ripping talking electronics off.

hi guys. the TE 555-1 stepper motor driver circuit has a major miistake. it shows the ground conection for the 555 as pin 8 and the Vcc connection as pin 1 ????

High David, glad to have you here. I have not been on here in a while and see that the board has been very quiet for quite some time. I hope to hear some of your ideas soon.
